Meet the team.

We Believe...

…that as  human beings on Earth we are currently in the midst of a great evolutionary transformation, requiring us to move from thinking only of ourselves to thinking about the planetary whole. The world wide conscious dance movement is  supporting this life-and-death transformational need for connection.

Ecstatic Dance Berne understands itself as part of this movement.

At Ecstatic Dance Berne we believe…

  • that dancing freely is an act of courage

  • that those who release the wild free soul within cannot be tamed.

  • in connections forged with sweat

When we step on the dance floor, we include our whole selves, even the frightened parts. We dance through pain and sorrow. We dance with joy until our hard edges soften and our masks fall away. We meet other courageous dancers, weaving unbreakable threads of connection. Our friendships transcend the boundaries of time and space. And it all melts together – beat, movement, breath – a swirling vortex we call community. As the throbbing pulse of the dance floor matches our own heartbeat, we know, without a doubt, we are not alone.

DJ Padma sam

DJ Padma Sam (AKA Robb Correll), gave his first dance recital when he was 4 years old and dance has been his easiest access to joy ever since. After studying classical vocal performance in the USA, he moved to Switzerland where he has lived ever since, working as a vocal performance coach, choir director, theater director, and university lecturer in learning design. Together with his wife and co-founder of Ecstatic Dance Bern, Judith Meuwly Correll, he founded the private school Sesam, an arts integrated school dedicated to the full development of every young person’s creativity and self-expression. Conscious movement, especially 5-Rhythms, Open Floor and Medicine Dance has been a staple of Robb’s life for over 15 years, a fact that eventually led to the initiation of Ecstatic Dance Bern.

Judith meuwly correll

Judith Meuwly Correll is cofounder and director of the Tagesschule Sesam: an arts integrated school committed to promote creativity and selfexpression.
The first time Judith Meuwly Correll was introduced to the conscious movement world was 15 years ago in a 5-rhythm workshop Robb, her husband, invited her to. She stubbornly stayed in the very corner of the room for the whole first day. The second day she ventured into the middle of the dance floor and discovered the joy in giving up thinking about what other people are doing or thinking. Dance has become an important re-sourcing practice ever since – a chance to get out of her mind and into her body. She is excited about providing a place for other people to come and nurture themselves in whichever way is right for them: be it by dancing full out in the middle of the dancefloor, by moving gently in a corner.

DJ Angela Alaska

ANGELA ALASKA (AKA Angela Luggen) is a longtime and experienced DJane and has been an indispensable part of the really fine parties in and around Bern. Her versatility is undisputed and for some time now she has been playing new dance spaces beyond the club scene with playful sounds and a wide range of genres.

DJ Atema

DJ ATEMA (AKA Janis Schnyder) says of himself: “My intention is to create a space, where you dive into the flow, beyond thinking but in pure presence. An experience where you connect with yourself and the essence of others. Coming from techno and house music I love the possibilities and diversity of ecstatic dance and to build journeys with all different kinds of emotions. I’m excited about the connection of concious movement and club culture, where ecstasy arises without drugs. And it’s my highest pleasure to co-create these spaces, together with the energies and vibrations of the dancers.”
He  has an education in ceramics (pottery) and loves doing crafts, constructing and building stuff. He is passionate for love, authenticity, integrity, sexuality, living emotions, slowness, community, breathwork & expansion of consciousness. He also hosts weekday dances.

DJ ANANDA

ANANDA (AKA Delia Imboden) loves playing with music from all over the world, exploring different soundscapes and expressing emotions through them. With her DJ mixes she ignites true freedom of expression for every*body. Dancers experience through sound and movement the connecting of body, spirit and soul.  Body leads, mind follows.
